Me

I'm Alexi, a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in California. I obtained my M.A. in Counseling Psychology from the University of San Francisco. My first career was working in Sports Event Management. I grew up in the Bay Area with Greek parents. I love sports, movies, music, dancing, traveling, and spending time with friends & family. Sports have played a big role in my life; playing them, watching them, working in, and discussing them. Go Warriors/49ers/Giants/Valkyries/Sharks. I coach my kids and their respective teams. I still consider myself active, playing basketball, soccer, golf, and tennis. Throughout life, this has proven to be a great way to get to know myself in so many different ways, as a player and now as a coach.

Philosophy

I like to have fun, in spirit and in the moment. I believe it to be a core element of our own abilities to find happiness and fulfillment, but also push through pain. I bring my lived experience into the room. Mental habits are created over time, and believe it or not, you CAN teach an old dog new tricks. Neuroplasticity has taught us even more about our adaptability as a species. Learning to find humor or positivity in situations can be learned. What mental habits do you want to learn? I also believe in being honest and vulnerable with yourself. These are choices one can make to aid in building a path towards getting where you want to go. And finding motivation is a part of therapy. If it's not there, we'll look for it.

Approach

My approach centers on using mindfulness to pursue your fulfillment and learn a self-guiding practice to maintain and grow. Compassionate Problem Solving is my motto. Any reason one comes to therapy revolves around some sort of a challenge: big, small, internal, external, past, etc. I focus on building rapport with every client based on authenticity, curiosity, and respect. I take a compassionate approach towards unpacking the issue and working together to identify a strategy. My goal is to help you obtain the tools to endure hardship and come out victorious on the other side. Practicing mindfulness, we can learn to identify thoughts, emotions, and/or social factors in the moment and explore the rational/emotional processes involved leading to a greater general sense of self, situations, and decision-making.
